This company is a registered voluntary organization working with street and working children in Delhi since 1989. We believe in the right of every child to have a full fledged childhood where s/he has the right to protection, respect, opportunities and participation in his/her growth and development. The company is committed to a non-institutional approach, follows principle of democracy and promotes children’s participation in decision making as part of its programme planning, monitoring and evaluation. Our programmes for children include education, health care, Children’s Development Bank, Children’s Alternate media (radio, theater and newspaper), Child line and Resilience Center, Community Kitchen and Night Out, which are carried out in 11 contact areas in Delhi (a point where there is concentration of street/working children such as bus terminus, market, railway station). We also run 3 night shelters in Delhi. The company also has a research, advocacy and training wing and Alliance Building that works to support mobilization of civil society and influences policies at all levels. We are active participants in national and international networks for advocating and promoting policies, programmes and actions to protect rights of children.Our Education Programme is for street and working children. The Primary Goal of our Education programme is to promote education for life. Education is also a lifeline for poor children to get out of poverty. Our endeavour is to empower the children with knowledge and skills while we engage with them and enlist their participation in our various programmes. We believe that the Education, which is needed by these children, has to be context based.The programme is designed to meet the basic learning needs of students. These needs comprise both essential learning tools (such as literacy, oral expression, numeracy and problem solving) and the basic learning content (such as knowledge, skills, values and attitudes) required by children to be able to survive, to develop their capacities, to live and work in dignity, to participate fully in development, to improve the quality of their lives, to make informed decisions and to continue learning.
Job Description
Work on the vision and goals for the education programme in coordination with the supervisor and the staff.
Network with other educational institutions and resource centers for support to the programme.
Design and implement activities that are in line with the goal and objectives of the education programme.
Monitor, review and improve the programme to enhance the quality of learning
Develop an annual operational plan along with the staff that is in line with the goal and objectives of the programme.
Monitor the utilization of the budget
Supervise teachers and child rights facilitators on a daily basis (attendance, punctuality, assessment, teaching schedule and teachers’ leave, curriculum covered, methodology used, children’s attendance and performance etc)
Supervise the logistics and administration of the learning centers:
Class scheduling
Teaching learning material
Organizing teacher substitution
Learning center's cleanliness and maintenance
Coordinate with NIOS for student admissions, class attendance, teaching and examinations.
Organize training of teachers/child rights facilitators-ongoing and residential and follow up.
Assess the performance of teachers after taking into consideration the inputs of the supervisor and conduct annual performance appraisals.
Document activities and impact of programme.
Write reports and documents to represent the education programme to donors, ministry, media and visitors.
Identify career aspirations and opportunities for senior students and organize career counsellings sessions in consultation with resource persons.
Develop and implement a performance and follow up tracking system of all children and conduct monthly and annual tests and maintenance of progress cards.
Submit monthly/quarterly/annual reports to the supervisor on progress made and lessons earned.
Participate in conferences, seminars, workshops and exposure programmes.
consolidate reports periodically.
Requirements:
Post graduation in Social Sciences/ Education
Minimum of 3-4 years work experience in the development sector
Fluency in spoken and written English and Hindi
Ability to write concisely and comprehensively for different audiences
Strong research and analytical skills
Working knowledge of computers
Excellent communication skills and able to lead a team.
Personal commitment to serve and a passion to work with young people so as make a positive difference to their lives
Emoluments: Rs 35,000 per month
